Feinstein Shows Who Is "Mainstream"

Samuel Alito is outside the mainstream of public thought and judicial philosophy; that is the incessant charge of Alito’s opponents. I have mentioned in the recent past how this is an insane assertion and it is the party of liberals who are truly outside the mainstream of public opinion on many, many things.

But I will continue to drive home the point because it will be a continuous harangue long after Samuel Alito is confirmed.

The latest liberal to reveal just how far outside the mainstream these liberals really are is Senator Dianne Feinstein. In a recent appearance she made comment explaining her reason for intending to vote against Alito’s confirmation. The context was surrounding her fears that Samuel Alito might vote to overturn that special and hallowed right of a woman to kill her baby. Given the chance, she fears Alito would overturn Roe vs. Wade.

That backdrop is important in fully understanding Feinstein’s next statement and who is truly outside the mainstream. Feinstein said, “The fundamental right to liberty is at stake with this candidate.”

Let’s parse her statement: Abortion is, according to this Senator, “the fundamental right of liberty.” According to the dictionary, this Senator believes abortion is THE FOUNDATION or base of liberty and is the essential component of our entire system of rights.

Now let me see; I remember those inalienable rights constitutionally enumerated—rights not granted by any authority short of God Himself—viz., LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT of happiness. I just don’t recall abortion entering into the equation of constitutional rights until almost 200 years later when in 1973 some men in black created it.................ex-nihilo.

Strange but I see the constitution delineating the right to LIFE as the foundational right of liberty which is diametrically opposed to Feinstein’s statement.

So you tell me who is mainstream and who is not.

Liberal Pastors In Danger of Hemorrhaging In IRS Snare

The old saw says politics makes strange bedfellows and that is certainly pictured in the latest controversy where a passel of liberal clergy have ratted out two conservative, pastors and their churches for alleged violation of IRS rules concerning the mixing of religion and politics.

Thirty clergy from nine denominations signed a letter asking the IRS to investigate what they viewed as illegal campaign activities by the World Harvest Church, pastored by Rod Parsley and Rev. Russell Johnson of the Fairfield Christian Church both of Ohio.

The cited infractions include sharing a dais with Ohio gubernatorial candidate Kenneth Blackwell as well as making personal contributions to the candidate. (For the record, while a church may not make a contribution to a candidate, a pastor may. Just because an American citizen happens to be a pastor, doesn’t mean he forfeits his individual liberties shared by all other citizens.)

Who are these pastors, who run the grave risk of hemorrhaging to death with a beam stuck in their eyes? They are clergy of the American Baptists, The Unitarian Universalists, Disciples of Christ, the Episcopal Church, The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Judaism, The United Church of Christ, and The United Methodist Church.

All these pastors have one thing in common; they all support liberal social politics, and despise Biblical ethics. Not surprisingly, each of these denominations have been leaders in blessing the sins of homosexuality and abortion to name only a couple hot button issues.

Now for the hypocrisy factor; the Rev. Jess Jackson makes fairly routine visits to Foundry United Methodist—Bill Clinton’s former church while in office--as well as a host of other churches around the country. Mr. Jackson has violated IRS regulation too many times to enumerate by endorsing liberal democrats and outright trashing conservative Republicans. And who can forget Al Gore who also violated IRS regulation by conducting campaign fund raising in a Buddhist Temple in California.

So here we go with more of the same old, same old. Liberals do what they want while demanding everyone else live lawfully as defined by them.

So far, the IRS has done nothing. If they are smart, they’ll leave it that way and start investigating the one’s pointing the finger.

New Bin Laden Tape Confirms What I've been saying All Along

Over the past couple years as the war on terror has endured, you have heard me and others level serious charges of treason against some of our elected representatives for some of the comments they have been making and continue to make concerning the President’s handling of this war.

Of course no one ever takes it too seriously just writing our kind off as radical war hawks who are in lock step with the President on everything he does.

But a newly obtained tape purportedly to be from Osama himself gives new evidence that remarks from our legislators are hurting our country and our soldiers.

Bin Laden “warns that plans for attacks in the United States are under way.” Now I don’t doubt that for a minute but then I don’t believe that is a new development but rather that has been the case since before the war even began. What is interesting about that statement though is that Muslim terrorists are not given to announcing their plans; they take pride in just blowing the snot out of woman and children while taking their own lives.

So the fact that they are telling us they are making plans only indicates their inability—thanks to President Bush—to carry them out. The threat is all they have going for them. It’s the second part of the taped statement though to which I refer concerning our treasonous leaders.

Bin Laden curiously offers a truce on the tape saying, "It is obvious now that Bush has been misleading the people. It is better for you not to fight the Muslims on their territory and we offer a long-term truce."

Now where do you suppose Bin Laden got the idea that Bush has been misleading people if not from our wretched—anti-American—liberal senators and representatives who have been bashing Bush incessantly making all manner of scurrilous accusations to that affect?

You see; aiding and abetting isn’t such a radical charge after all now is it? And, playing on their belief that the majority of Americans are against this war, the master of terror plays right into that telling us it’s better for us not to fight Muslims on their territory…better for who, us or them?

He concludes by offering us a “long term truce;” Can you imagine? I’d rather deal a truce with the Devil—but then I’m being redundant aren’t I?

News Flash! Leahy to vote against Alito...

Are you ready for the shock of the month? You better sit down or pull over or make sure there’s padding between you and the floor cuz here it comes.

News Flash-- Patrick Leahy, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, will vote against confirmation of President Bush's Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito.
Can you believe it? Wow, who would have thought that the ranking democrat on the Judiciary Committee, who strained his arms chucking manure bombs at the Supreme Court nominee; and who almost—but not quite—out arroganced Hyannis Port’s favorite son, would vote against Judge Samuel Alito?
Enough sarcasm for you? Patrick Leahy—paragon of open-mindedness as all left ideologues are--was going to vote against this President’s nominee as soon as his name became public.

Leahy himself tells us all why. In his own words, "I'm not going to lend my support to an effort by this president to move the Supreme Court and the law radically to the right…”

What this means is that—if Leahy is right and Alito’s presence IS able to move the court “radically to the right” the Court will still be 3 miles left of center.
Not following me? The court has upheld the “right” to invade your home computer with vile and disgusting spam calling it “free speech;” the right of public libraries NOT to put filters on their computers; have found a right to murder one’s child for any reason at any time during a pregnancy and have upheld the right to extract a fully mature baby partially from the womb and suck its brains out while denying the right of a parent to parent a minor child having a sometimes lethal surgery.

They have found a right to have perverted sex with whomever or whatever and see no problem with a city booting you out of your house for their convenience yet prohibit a city from having a symbol of a church on their city seal and this doesn’t even skim the surface of the barrel of left wing virtues.

This court is so far left it would take a decade or two just to get the court somewhere back to center. Let’s pray to God this time Leahy is right. Just this once!

The Devil IS in the Details!

You ever heard, “The Devil is in the details?” He’s there all right; in the background when many of this nation’s top leaders spew their venom against Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito. My advice to all his supporters:

“Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:11-12)

After silencing the darkness at what has been misguidedly called, “confirmation hearings” the party of the wayward managed to stall the vote process so they could continue to try and sway public sentiment against him. It doesn’t seem to be working.

Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., said he would vote against Alito because he is too far outside the mainstream of judicial thinking.

Baucus is lying plain and simple. What he should say if he was concerned with truthfulness is that Alito is outside the mainstream of liberal, antichrists who have long forgotten what the Constitution actually says.

"He's just not right for America, he's just not right for America," Baucus said.

Wrong Senator; you’re not right for America; you and your blind, deaf and dumb cronies who want to control the lives of god-fearing men and women. And if the Lord of heaven and earth whom you despise is willing, this president will be able to appoint one or two more Supreme Court justices while he’s in office.

Then won’t you children of the devil be squealing and wailing when the court once again actually upholds righteousness and defeats the wickedness your “mainstream” activists have forced down the throats of Americans.

The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness. He will not always strive with us; nor will He keep His anger forever.
Psalm 103:8-9

I plan to savor every decision overturned in the cause of what is right and honorable and as for your kind along with your venom spewing cronies, you are warned “to flee from the wrath to come.”

Brokeback Mountain--Just More Propaganda

I expect you’ve heard some of the reviews about the new great “love story” called Brokeback Mountain. Joe Williams of the St. Louis Post Dispatch writes, "It is simply one of the greatest love stories in film history."

What it is really is just a romanticized, and supremely fictitious version of homosexual relationships. Director Ang Lee replaces the reality of gay relationships with his pipe dream of what he wants you to think “gay love” is like.

What would I do if I was the devil and wanted to popularize divorce? I would show a marriage of indifference where a very attractive husband and gorgeous wife have simply faded into different worlds over a protracted time of monotonous routine, and raising a family.

Then I would show the husband coming alive; becoming more “human” as he begins engaging another “love interest” at his place of work where he spends the majority of his waking hours. The wife would likewise become a rejuvenated woman having found someone who pays attention to her and brings out her best.

As the husband and wife realize they no longer love each other, my story would show them going their separate ways yet while remaining best of friends with each spouse becoming not only born again humans but vibrant, attentive parents with the resultant joy on their approving children’s faces.

Things like, finances, visitation, resentment, heartbreak, jealousy and broken hearts never enter Satan’s la-la land propaganda. It’s selling a bill of goods that has no basis in reality.

This is what Ang Lee has done in producing this sympathetic film made with one intent alone. That is to further normalize homosexuality depicting it as wonderful wholesome love between two people who just happen to be the same sex.

Todd Gilchrist wrote, “Brokeback Mountain offers a long-overdue road map into territory often traversed but seldom properly documented; namely, the human heart.”

I disagree: “Brokeback Mountain offers a predictable road map into territory routinely traversed today flowing out of the human heart which, according to God’s word, is “…deceitful above all else and desperately wicked…” Jeremiah 17:9,10

I expect this movie will do fairly well; not because it’s a great movie but because it justifies our culture of lust and cesspool morality.

Pat Robertson Does It Again

By now everyone knows that 700 Club founder Pat Robertson has put his foot in his mouth recently—again. It wasn’t long ago that he called for the assassination of Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez and now he has inferred that the massive stroke to befall Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon “may” have been caused by God in a sort of Divine retaliation for Sharon’s giving up part of the Jewish homeland.
I have seen the clip and Robertson certainly implies that is a possibility also citing the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin in 1995 who signed the Oslo peace accords.
“Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the [European Union], the United Nations or the United States of America…" Robertson said.
There are several problems with this not the least of which is making pronouncements in such a public way which, although “possible,” are nothing more than Robertson’s own eschatology emerging with resultant speculations.
Robertson is certainly free to speculate, but for goodness sake, when a world leader lies in a coma, show a little discretion with something which can’t be proven, is very weak at best, and makes the whole of followers of Jesus look like imbeciles.
The book of Joel, which Robertson cited as his foundation for his remarks, is a book dealing with the end times. That in and of itself should be enough for Robertson to be extremely cautious in what he says to hundreds of thousands of unwitting viewers.
I don’t believe, as I have heard advanced, that Robertson is just trying to say something outrageous to get back into the limelight. People who say such things understand the neither the Bible nor the man. But if Robertson doesn’t have the ability to discern Biblical fact from Biblical speculation, and also seems to have lost a legitimate discernment to the sensitivities of global politics, he really should keep his mouth shut.
I am not one for pulling punches and I despise political correctness, but if you’re going to make the statements he has made recently, they better be grounded in Gospel truth, not fanciful innuendo taken from the most difficult and mysterious passages of Scripture.
For the sake of missionaries around the world, Robertson needs to be reigned in, for his own good—and ours.

Longhorns' Coach Brown Really Has It Together

Well I have to admit I am not a college football fan but was still interested in who would take the honors of being called the number 1 team in College football. In a bit of an upset, the #2 ranked Texas Longhorns defeated the USC Trojans who were on a 31 game winning streak.

The reason this story caught my attention beyond the athletic considerations is that people invest their entire lives into something as meaningless as a football game. It is the very worldview—that you eat, sleep, drink, breath and think football—that often compels individuals to such levels of achievement, but at what price?

Well, as I was perusing the news stories on this game I ran across a quote from Mack Brown the coach of the National Champion Texas Longhorns. Remember, it has been 35 years since Texas won the big one and they had the reputation of not having what it takes to do so. Their winning was doubly important to those concerned about such things. So what might the coach tell his players to fire them up for the game of their lives?

Well listen to what Coach Brown said.

“I told them tonight as I told them Monday, I don't want this to be the biggest thing that ever happens in their lives. It may be the best sporting event in your life, and for some of them it will be for sure. But I want this to help them carry confidence later in life. ”

Wow! Now that’s perspective! Sure in terms of athletics this is a big deal but in the grand scheme of things; get real! And how many of you parents, because of your enthusiasm for sports, are setting your children up for an investment of time, energy and money fostering a belief—intentional or not, that they are going to be professional athletes or worse, that their sport is going to give them everything they ever hoped for in life? They have a better chance of being hit by lightening than they do of making it big as a sports star.

Remember the name Barry Clukey? He made Sports Illustrated as the national scoring champ in hockey and he was from right here in Waterville, Maine. What happened to Barry? He never even made out of college sports.

Remember Cindy Blogett? She was another local basketball star who actually did make it to the pros only to sit on a bench for a couple years and then retreated to coaching.

Don’t get me wrong—I love excellence and I am proud of both these young athletes but these are the only two names in the 15 years I have been here that have even come close to actually doing something in professional sports. Don’t sacrifice what is truly important for your children on a crap shoot with odds that are astronomically against them.

Are you teaching your children what is really important? I don’t mean by what you say but by what you do! It’s your lifestyle choices, that teach your kids what you really believe is important.

Guys like Coach Brown are few and far between and so are parents of his caliber.

Follow up re: Military chaplains forbidden to pray in Jesus' Name

A few weeks back I told you about the military’s policy oppressing Christian chaplains by prohibiting them from praying “In Jesus’ name. I mentioned Navy Chaplain Gordon Klingenschmitt who was under discipline for having done just that.

As I posted this commentary to my blog one person wrote taking umbrage to my commentary saying that I didn’t have the facts of the story right. He insisted that chaplains were only asked to not to pray in Jesus’ name when invited to a public event where people of many different faiths may be present. I asked for documentation of his assertion but none was provided.

In an effort to give you only reliable information, I continued to research the story and am convinced that while this critic may be technically right as far as what the regulation actually states, (of that I am not certain) the application of the regulation is going beyond just chaplain activities in a so-called public arena. Case in point--

From the Stars and Stripes Sept. 6, 2005 issue

According to “a Pentagon regulation, ‘Chaplains shall be permitted to conduct public worship according to the manner and forms of the church of which they are members.’”

Yet Chaplain Klignenschimit was reprimanded for a sermon he gave at the memorial service of a sailor who had been killed. In the sermon Klignenschimit emphasized the fact that the sailor was certainly in heaven and “mentioned in passing that according to John 3:36, those who do not accept Jesus are doomed for eternity.’” That IS what the Bible states.

“My sermon was in the base chapel, it was optional attendance and it was by invitation,” Klignenschimit said. “If we can’t quote certain scriptures in the base chapel when people are invited to church, where can we quote them? Don’t paint me as a person who’s going around forcing my faith on people. I’ve never done that.”

So you see, there is a “real” problem in the military with Christians being censured just as I stated previously. If this is allowed to stand, well,, put another nail in the coffin of the United States of America, and kiss any expectation of God’s favor upon us good bye.
