Everyone Already Has Equal Rights in Maine!

Are you ready for Nov. 8th? Please put it on your calendar and be sure to get out and vote on the referendum concerning the Governor’s so-called anti-discrimination law.

I hope you are not being horn-swaggled by the rhetoric and lofty language about equal rights, fairness, and discrimination.

Here’s one small example excerpted from a recent Letter To The Editor.

“I am puzzled because most of us take these rights for granted. Why wouldn't we wish the same for all of us who live here in Maine? There are similar laws on the books in all other New England states. Surely we would wish uniform human rights for everyone everywhere.”

First of all “these rights” alluded to are the right to equal treatment in finding housing, obtaining loans, education and employment. Like I said, everyone in Maine already has these rights.

Second—“There are similar laws on the books in all the other New England states,” sounds like, “But all my friends are doing it…” Taht was never a compelling argument iwth my chldren and it is even less so in this situation.

Third the writer says, “Surely we would wish uniform human rights for everyone everywhere.”

Really? Everyone, everywhere? I am cure even this writer doesn’t believe that. No one balks when an alcoholic has his license to drive revoked, or a convicted felon has to wear an ankle bracelet or when a clerk won’t sell a 13 year old a six pack. So the statement--while it sounds high and mighty--is absurd.

All the data, and all the research conducted by the most liberally biased groups have all conceded that there is no evidence of what is being contended. So when you hear the commercials about homosexuals being discriminated against in this state, know that it is flat-out fiction.

This bill is not about equal rights as stated. This is merely a door opener to broader affirmations of what have been traditionally and biblically, unhealthy, abnormal, and dangerous conduct. We need to vote YES on Nov. 8th.

Another "Christian" Reveals His Ignorance

In a recent Sentinel letter to the editor, Paul Garrett wrote in a semi-sarcastic way of his being perplexed that anyone who is a Christian could even possibly be thinking of voting YES to the veto of the Governor’s Homosexual rights bill. This is what he wrote.
“I can't believe it is a group calling itself the Christian Coalition. Surely it cannot be. Christ Jesus, the founder, was not one to discriminate on the basis of anything. Accounts of his life tell stories of him talking to everyone, even tax collectors, prostitutes, Pharisees, Romans and women. All of those groups were disliked, avoided or looked down upon by some in his society in his day. But not by him. He was open and loving and accepting of every person, no matter what.”
Ya know it is this kind of Biblical ignorance that drives me up a wall.
Mr. Garret is right that Jesus was willing to sit down with anyone and chat just as Mike Heath and Paul Volle and so many other Christian leaders have done. But Mr. Garrett’s Jesus is a creation of his own imagination for the same “accounts” of Jesus’ life to which Mr. Garrett appeals for formulating his LTTE tell us other things about Jesus.
When he met with tax collectors, He assured them they were not beyond the reach of a forgiving God but then told them to stop ripping people off!
When he met with the woman caught in adultery, He assured her she was forgiven but condemned her behavior ordering her to sin no more!
Jesus never had anything good to say to the Pharisees, as a group calling them hypocrites, children of the Devil.
When he met with the Gentiles –whether Roman, Greek or Samaritan didn’t matter--Jesus criticized their prayers, their religion, their worship, their behaviors, their beliefs and their values.
And even when Jesus talked with the Samaritan woman at the well much to the dismay of His chauvinist pig disciples, Jesus exhorts her for having repeated illicit relationships and for shacking up.
To top matters off Jesus tells her, her faith is in some imaginary deity, and is worthless and that salvation is coming only from the God of the Hebrews—like it or not.
To Mr. Garrett, and so many other so-called Christians, try actually reading your Bible for once.

Discrimination Against Homosexuals Unfounded

Condom Confusion at U. Maine

Many years ago in my bi-weekly column for the Central Maine Newspapers, I reported frequently on the latest and most reliable information regarding the ineffectiveness of condoms in both preventing disease and their dismal failure rate.

Of course, I changed nothing. But now listen to some excerpts taken form the University of Maine web site.

“Some students have raised concerns about defective condoms that have were passed out by Cutler Health Center.

The results from unofficial tests conducted by several student groups had students worried last week. The tests did not go well, and a large percentage of the brands condoms were deemed ineffective.”

Duh! I showed that roughly 17% of condoms are defective. I remember the nurse and principal at Waterville High School being blinded by my credentials as a minister which obviously negated the data I gave them which was from the prestigious Center For Disease Control in Atlanta.

So the students ran tests themselves and low and behold they are shocked, shocked I tell you that they are being given defective condoms and its being funded by your and my tax dollars.

Even though a resolution was passed, Cutler continues to give out Premium brand condoms.

One Resident Assistant said, "We've had a lot of people reporting that they're breaking. We're still distributing them because Cutler says their FDA protected."

So about 12 years later, and now with the users of the condoms complaining themselves, the response is pretty much the same as I received. “Don’t confuse me the facts.”

What’s the next step: A lawsuit against the university for a student either having contracted an STD or an unwanted pregnancy. Either way, it will be your tax dollars—again—paying for it all.

Of course that’s not the biggest issue. The biggest issue is the number of wounded souls and infected lives at such misuse of the wonderful gift of sex God blessed in the union of matrimony. That may be passé now a days, but the fallout never grows old.
