Everyone Already Has Equal Rights in Maine!

Are you ready for Nov. 8th? Please put it on your calendar and be sure to get out and vote on the referendum concerning the Governor’s so-called anti-discrimination law.

I hope you are not being horn-swaggled by the rhetoric and lofty language about equal rights, fairness, and discrimination.

Here’s one small example excerpted from a recent Letter To The Editor.

“I am puzzled because most of us take these rights for granted. Why wouldn't we wish the same for all of us who live here in Maine? There are similar laws on the books in all other New England states. Surely we would wish uniform human rights for everyone everywhere.”

First of all “these rights” alluded to are the right to equal treatment in finding housing, obtaining loans, education and employment. Like I said, everyone in Maine already has these rights.

Second—“There are similar laws on the books in all the other New England states,” sounds like, “But all my friends are doing it…” Taht was never a compelling argument iwth my chldren and it is even less so in this situation.

Third the writer says, “Surely we would wish uniform human rights for everyone everywhere.”

Really? Everyone, everywhere? I am cure even this writer doesn’t believe that. No one balks when an alcoholic has his license to drive revoked, or a convicted felon has to wear an ankle bracelet or when a clerk won’t sell a 13 year old a six pack. So the statement--while it sounds high and mighty--is absurd.

All the data, and all the research conducted by the most liberally biased groups have all conceded that there is no evidence of what is being contended. So when you hear the commercials about homosexuals being discriminated against in this state, know that it is flat-out fiction.

This bill is not about equal rights as stated. This is merely a door opener to broader affirmations of what have been traditionally and biblically, unhealthy, abnormal, and dangerous conduct. We need to vote YES on Nov. 8th.

Cripes, I think what you need is some old fashioned man-love, old-school. You need to understand that there is nothing wrong with that - you should embrace who you are and just accept it. Life will be easier once you get rid of this hate for your own urges.

HEY - you guys need to tone it done and act like civilized human brings.

Just because the Pastor hates people who are not like him doesn't give you the right to say this stuff. Christ would ask that you treat even a bigot with love and understanding.

God will deal with the "Pastor" later, but in the meantime clean up the pottymouth.

Look - this site is a blog about the upcoming referendum on gay rights. The only thing we need to hear from you is whether you are a bigot like the Pastor appears to be given his hate comments, or whether you are against discrimination.

Keep the rest of your crap to yourself.

I think Cripes might be Satan. Look at the crap he is slinging. Is this the talk of someone who has seen the light of eternal salvation?

I don't think so.

CRIPES ARE YOU SATAN HIMSELF OR JUST PRETENDING?

You know, the assinine point of view that Cripes represents is a good reason to vote NO on Question 1.

Can you imagine a world where someone like Mike Heath and Cripes are actually representative of someone other than marginal religous wackos? Where their thoughts are not just ramblings from people who believe in ghosts?

FUCK THAT. VOTE NO

I'm actually going to be quite reasonable. Pastor, you have a great point, but I see your view as one of those slippery slope kind of deals. Well, that philosophy can go both ways. If you vote to keep the law in effect [by voting no] you are not allowing room for discrimination. While on the otherhand, in your view, if you vote no, then there's room that gay marriage will be accepted as well.

While if people vote yes, on my standpoint, and with viewing your opinion, it actually leaves room for discrimination later on, regardless of the fact that, as you stated, there is no discrimination. From your standpoint, if you vote Yes, you disallow any room for more agendas, especially ones concerning gay marriage.

Although you have a point Pastor, but it really has no concern over gay marriage. Yet it does leave room for it, you're right. But the Lord has spoken in the Bible about loving thy neighbour as you love thyself, and not to judge those whom will be judged by the Lord. Rejecting this law will allow companies to reject people for housing/jobs just under the presumption that they're gay. I don't think this is what the Lord wanted. Sure, it does have some relevance, and homosexuals are sinning in the eyes of the Lord, but the Lord doesn't say anything about not allowing them to live. I hope you can understand my viewpoint. The Lord has a backbone, Pastor, I know that, but He will judge them accordingly.

And to the anonymous posters that have harassed this blog, you are just as bad as what you speak of. A little word from "authoritative book of God" [forgive me Pastor, I haven't been to enough of your services to grasp this phrase yet]:
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-2

I voted yes,and have found this information and thought those here would find it interesting: Here is “information from the Maine Human Rights
Commission, July 04 - June 05 , says: "Charges filed
to the processing of charges of discrimination: 628
new charges were filed. Over 82% of these alleged
discrimination in employment. The largest number of
complaints was filed on the basis of disability
(30.9%). The second largest number of complaints was
based on sex (22.1%). The third largest were
Whistleblower’s charges (15.2%). These three bases
comprised 68.2% of the complaints filed. Age was the
4th largest category of complaint (8.3%), followed by,
Retaliation (7.5%), Race/color (6.6%),
Ancestry/national origin (4.7%). Over forty-nine
percent (49.75%) of the sex discrimination complaints
filed alleged sexual harassment. The number of sexual
harassment complaints filed (100) decreased slightly
from the previous year, but constituted a higher
percentage overall of sex discrimination charges filed
at nearly 50%."

"The Commission found reasonable grounds to believe
that unlawful discrimination had occurred in 40 cases,
which was 9% of the cases they considered. The
Commission found no reasonable grounds to believe that
unlawful discrimination occurred in 402 cases. Not
all cases in which the Commission makes determinations
are closed within the same fiscal year”

My question is, How many complaints based on “ sex”,
were gender discrimination and what were the decisions
on these cases?

Lastly, I 'm very saddened by the previous posts and they actually crush my heart to see the words expressed. Yes, Christians have a long way to go in getting it right in being the example of Jesus Christ we are to be, but those making bizarre and or childish comments assulting Mr. Cripe, seem to be guilty of the very things they accuse him of. I find that very disorientating, skewed and frankly offensive, but mostly very sad. He seems to have more courage than all of the rest of us combined. At least he puts his name on his posts and doesn't hide behind the annoymous identity while standing for what he believes in. It is far more that what we are doing! My faith will always impact my vote and my life. And I pray that the Lord will have His way in the lives of all those who have written here. Including me.
